100 Public Speaking Tips

By Jacki Rose

You will enjoy reading this book that contains one hundred Blog postings that were all written and posted by me, Jacki Rose. These tips are in no particular order and are great tools and techniques that will help you succeed with your presentations.

Some of the tips are very short, some are a bit longer, and some may include repetition from previous tips. All are engaging, fun to read, and highly educational.

As you read this book, keep in mind you do not need to implement all of the tips or suggestions all at once. For each new presentation you give, take one or two new ideas and apply them. If there is something you do that works really well that is not mentioned in this book, keep doing it. Feel free to let me know what that is. I just may end up posting it on my Blog!

Here are a few samples from the book.

Blog 15 - Advice from Bill Gates and Warren Buffet

Bill Gates and Warren Buffet go back to school on PBS. They answer questions by University Students and one of the questions asked was "What advice can you give for someone to get ahead in the business world?" Warren Buffet responded, "One of the things to be sure to do, whether you like it or not, is to get comfortable with public speaking."

Blog 29 -Should You Use PowerPoint?

In every one of my programs I get asked the same question? “How do you feel about PowerPoint?” Since I am asked this question over and over, there obviously is some doubt in many of your minds if you should use it or not, even though so many people are using it. If you don’t need to use it, don’t.If you do need to use it, just remember this: You are your presentation, not your slides. If you absolutely have to use PowerPoint, use slides that are engaging. Please no more text!If you are going to have text, make it one word, one phrase, or one sentence. What do you want to emphasize?

Blog 40 - Speak for Success

When political advisors wanted Franklin D. Roosevelt to run for President they said, "He should run because he is a great speech maker." Not only did he run, but he served four terms as President. I am sure he was elected over and over again partly due to his speech making. He had great public speaking skills. Someone told me they saw President Clinton speak and was blown away. She said he was just a fascinating speaker and she tries to pick up tips from him. If you improve your public speaking, you may not become President or even want to become President, but you will certainly succeed more in life.
