What if I can't answer a question?

It's okay. Really. No one expects you to know everything.  Here are a few tips to keep in mind.

Don't be afraid to admit you do not know the answer.  Your audience will admire you for your honesty and integrity.

Before admitting, ask the audience, "who knows the answer to that question."

Repeat the question back to the person who asked it to clarify what he/she meant. Let him/her respond. They just may answer their own question.

If you feel you should know the answer and it is relative to the topic, let them know you will find out the answer and get back to them.
